CROCUS FASHION RETAIL
In 1990, Aras Agalarov introduced Russian consumers to a small range of Sergio Rossi footware. This modest start was the beginning of the Group’s now extensive involvement in designer fashion retail. Today, headed by Emin Agalarov Junior Crocus Group Fashion Retail division manages magnificent Crocus City Mall (61 000 sq m), more than 170 labels in retails portfolio, 54 “mono brands”, - only to mention Celine, Nina Ricci, Lanvin, Emanuel Ungaro, Casadei, Maison Martin Margiela, Castel Bajac, Santoni - as well as four outlets referred to Crocus multibrand concept chain and two Crocus Ateliers Couture. Just 2007 Crocus increased its boutique presence in the Moscow city center to 1650 sq m., boosted in no small part by the opening of the 4 level multi-storey Crocus Stoleshnikov located opposite to Louis Vuitton flagman in Moscow’s elite shopping district. The perspective development presumes the opening of the Nobu restaurant on the upper level. In 2007 Crocus Group fashion retail chain was added by Crocus multybrand open space launched inside the newly Lotte Plaza and Four Seasons department stores. Today, the Crocus fashion arm has a combined turnover of $50m.
Of particular significance is the company’s strong business relations with the J-Lo by Jennifer Lopez celebrity brand. Starting in 2004 — with the unveiling of the first J-Lo boutique worldwide opened in Crocus City Mall — Crocus has worked to oversee a dozen franchise openings in towns all over Russia and the former Soviet Union. As a result, boutiques have opened in locations from St Petersburg to Vladivostock; from the Baltic states to a flagship 170 sq. m store in Baku, Azerbaijan, Kharkov and Minsk.
Crocus Group has also invested into the development of fashion retail opportunities through pioneering Expo activities, most especially through the Moscow Fashion Expo. Now in its second year, Moscow Fashion Expo offers a unique and unparalleled forum for buyers and brands to meet and reach the agreements that will bring world-class fashion and design to the former Soviet Union.
