Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center
Crocus Group has always been at the forefront of specialized exhibition events. As early as 1990, the company hosted the first COMTEK Computing Expo, at a time before information technology was widely available in the country. Throughout the early 1990s, Crocus continued to organize groundbreaking exhibitions on the widest range of subjects — from food and textiles through to Beauty and Fashion.
In 1994, the company announced ambitious plans to provide a purpose-built international exhibition space in Moscow. Put on hold following the 1998 economic crisis, the outstanding Crocus Expo was finally unveiled in 2004. Today, following the inauguration of a third pavilion back to August 2007, Crocus Expo offers a staggering 549 000 sq m total space: not only the largest Expo center in Europe, but now the world leader compared to the Messe Hannover 495 265 sq m exhibition center.
The number of exhibitions held at Crocus Expo continues to grow at great pace. 2007 Crocus Expo serviced some 150 exhibitions — an increase from 52 in 2004, 78 in 2005 and 109 in 2006. The center currently leases space to some the world’s leading exhibition businesses, including Fondazione Cosmit Eventi, Messe Frankfurt RUS, Spearhead Exhibitions Ltd., STEP Exhibitions Ltd., Turkel, Foreign Trade Center of China, VTO, ITE , Sibico International, IFA, Asti Group. Crocus Expo was also chosen as the preferred venue for the very first SPE Oil and Gas Conference in 2006; the 2006 Moscow Automobile Salon; Millionaire Fair, the host of the Chinese National Exhibition in Russia (March 2007), attended by both Russian president Vladimir Putin and head of the Chinese Government Hu Jintao.
Crocus Group is also aggressively expanding its own Expo activity. In particular, the number of Crocus-branded expo events — in areas ranging from fashion to finance — grew from 6 to 20 between 2004 and 2007 only to mention Moscow International Automobile Salon 2006 (110 000 sq m), Furniture Club 2007 (60 000 sq m). |
